This Teacher's Guide provides suggestions for exploring the novel Gabriel entre chien et loup. Each activity can be used on its own or combined with one or several others. The study of the characters and the novel’s plot line is approached from several angles. The guide’s activities are designed to develop students' ability to express themselves, to further develop self-knowledge and self-esteem, and to learn to appreciate First Nations and Metis cultures and their important contribution to the development of our country. The Teacher's Guide contains a reproduction of an authentic first-source document - a contract of African-American voyageur, Pierre Bonga, dated 1815.
